Steel City Con

The USS Inferno's quarterly recruitment event fell in July this year.  It was a great time due to the Steel City con.  The Steel City Con happens three time a year;  in April, July and December.  This con had a very special guest, TONY TODD ( Kurn and Candyman)!  There were other celebrities there as well.  LINDSAY WAGNER ("Jaime Sommers" from THE BIONIC WOMAN); JEREMY BULLOCH ("Boba Fett" from STAR WARS); BETSY RUSSELL ("Jill Tuck" from the SAW Films); TORRIE WILSON (former WWE Diva!); DENNIS HASKINS ("Principal Belding" from SAVED BY THE BELL); RICHARD LEPARMENTIER ("Admiral Motti" from STAR WARS). The Inferno had 5 members attend the event with 3 of us in uniform.  The members were MGEN Larry French, Capt. George Edwards, RADM Debbie French, Col James McClure, and LT Sharlene Hupka.  As we walked to Tony Todd, he spotted MGEN French and Capt Edwards greeting us in his Kurn character voice by saying "MY Klingons". For the remainder of the show we passed out Flyers and contact cards, told people about our chapter and posed for numerous pictures.  In a town that is mostly Star Wars fans, we received many comments about how good it was to see Star Trek represented.  MGEN French and Capt Edwards were also photographed for non-sports update and a college thesis on Geek Culture.  Special acknowledgment to LT Sharlene Hupka and MGEN Larry French for putting in the extra effort in talking with as many people as possible and always remembering that we are a proud STARFLEET chapter.
