Spike

Spike came to us in the fall of 2001. He warmed up to
me rather quickly, but took longer to warm up to Larry. He traveled out to see
my family for the first time in 2003 for Thanksgiving. We left him in their
care while we went on our honeymoon for 10 days. At one point, my sister went
to feed him and he rammed her hand. I wasn’t there for that, but when I heard
about, I just laughed. While on these road trips to and from Chicago, we nicknamed him Mr. Pissyface because he didn’t like traveling in the car and was mad for about a day after each trip in the car. He
especially didn’t like when I left and left him here with Larry. He would stay
mad at me for a few days afterwards when I would come home. He did like sitting
out in the living room on the couch with me and would watch the television with
me. Sometimes I would have him out here when Larry would come home from work
and Larry and Spike would fight for the second seat on the couch. Larry would
push him over and Spike would just come right back. Spike would even go so far
as to pee on Larry’s side of the couch just to get back at him forcing me to
clean it up afterwards. He also liked to sit right on top of you with his butt
in your face as well and would often do this to Larry when he was either trying
to use the laptop or watch television and would constantly get Larry mad. It
was funny to watch them go at it. Towards the end of Spike’s life, he and Larry
did learn to get along rather well. Spike’s last trip to Chicago was over Easter in April of 2010. He
passed away later on June 7, 2010. Spike will be missed by both myself and Larry and we will always love him.
