Inferno goes to IC2011 in the Poconos

Larry French, Debbie French, and Jim McClure from Region 7 joined forces with Matt Moyer and Krista Darbyshire from Region 1 to head to IC2011 in the Poconos. We left from Jim’s place on Thursday and headed up to the IC. Of course, there were the usual pit stops along the way to eat, gas the car up, and rest while on the road. We finally arrived and checked into the hotel. On Friday, while Larry was in the ECAB meeting sitting in as proxy for the IG, the rest of us wandered around the hotel, got our registration taken care of, and met up with all of our friends that we haven’t seen in a long time. After dinner, we went to opening session where I was promoted from Commodore to Rear Admiral. On Saturday, we went to General Session where I had received the CO of the Year award for all of Fleet. What a shocker that was, but nonetheless, I was thrilled to be handed the Honor. We went to different panels. Jim, Larry and I sat in on the Marine Muster before Larry left to go take care of the Academy Panel with Annie Wheeler and Cher Schleigh. We all then went to the How to Host an IC panel chaired by Mark Anbinder. I suggest that anyone thinking about hosting an IC to please go to this panel the next time that you are at an IC or contact Mark for more information.

We went out to dinner and returned just in time for the dance. We danced our butts off and had a blast. On Sunday, we went to closing session, had lunch, and went to the Region 7 meeting afterwards. In between, we said our goodbyes to those who were leaving on Sunday. We went out to dinner and returned to make our way to the pool for a short while before heading off to pack our things to leave the next day and head off the bed. On Monday, we checked out of the hotel and made our way back here to our end of Region 7. We all had a good time and wished that we could spend more time with all of our friends. It was a good time seeing everyone as well as spending the time that we had with them. Until next time, this is Debbie French signing off……..
